Week 4 NFL Recap: Ravens and Bengals Both Get Belt to Ass Beatings
By Trinity Barnette
Week 4 Recap: Ravens vs. Chiefs
Final Score: Chiefs 37, Ravens 20
Belt to Ass Beating
The Ravens walked into Kansas City and left with nothing but bruises. This wasn’t just a loss—it was a belt to ass beating. Baltimore actually struck first when Lamar Jackson hit Justice Hill for a touchdown in the first quarter, but the Chiefs responded immediately and never looked back.
Patrick Mahomes carved them up with four touchdown passes, finishing 25 of 37 for 270 yards. The Ravens defense—usually their stronghold—looked soft, giving up 34:45 in time of possession and four-for-four on 4th downs. Kansas City didn’t just win, they controlled every major category that mattered.
Lamar Goes Down
The turning point came in the third quarter. Lamar Jackson, who was 14 of 20 for 147 yards with one touchdown and one interception, left with a hamstring injury. He also ran for 48 yards before the exit, but without him, Baltimore’s offense had no rhythm.
Justice Hill provided the only spark, breaking off a 71-yard touchdown run in the fourth, but by then the game was already out of reach.
The Numbers
Chiefs total yards: 382
Ravens total yards: 360
First downs: Chiefs 24, Ravens 18
Time of possession: Chiefs 34:45, Ravens 25:15
Turnovers: Ravens 2, Chiefs 0
3rd down: Chiefs 5 of 15 (33%), Ravens 3 of 10 (30%)
4th down: Chiefs 4 of 4, Ravens 1 of 2
Penalties: Chiefs 5 for 40, Ravens 6 for 56
Raw Reflection
The Ravens looked like a team that could hang early, but they fell apart under the pressure of a true contender. The Chiefs exposed everything: a shaky offensive line, a defense that couldn’t hold up on critical downs, and an offense that is lost the second Lamar isn’t on the field.
The truth is simple—the Ravens are not Super Bowl contenders. Every game they drop lowers their playoff chances, and the injuries on defense are gutting them week by week. Kansas City ran through them with ease, showing just how vulnerable this roster really is.
Week 4 Recap: Bengals vs Broncos
Final Score: Broncos 28, Bengals 3
How It Went Down
Denver absolutely smacked Cincy in a penalty-filled beatdown.
Without Joe Burrow (out injured), Cincinnati’s offense was stuck in neutral. Backup Jake Browning threw for just 125 yards.
The Bengals couldn’t even get a first down for almost two full quarters.
Penalties killed them: 11 flags for 65 yards. One illegal formation wiped out a 37-yard catch by Tee Higgins.
Denver dominated in all phases: offense, defense, special teams. Cincy’s mistakes were fatal.
The Numbers & Failures
Cincinnati first downs: almost nonexistent early on
Total offense: 159 yards vs Denver’s 512
Turnovers & mistakes: too many to count; penalties made everything worse
Big plays: virtually none for Bengals
Sideline drama: Ja’Marr Chase got visibly upset with the coaching staff after yet another failed drive.
Raw Reflection
This was a full collapse. The Bengals looked lost without Burrow; every snap seemed like a reminder they’re fragile without him. The offense was nonexistent, the defense exposed, and the discipline was all over the place.
Make no mistake: they suck right now. This game reinforced how deep their problems run. They’re not just one injury or bad game away from turning it around—they’re a long shot to even sniff relevance if this continues.
Ja’Marr Chase’s frustration is justified—when your star has to yell to get attention, things are bad. And the coaching can’t hide behind injuries forever.
